Fires they are a burning

Fires they are a burning, churning, disconcerting,

Mother Nature’s fury learning, earning the respect.

Respect the big and little, one’s age-twelve, do not bear

When they light a fire, bring in ire, make things dire,

Bringing lost love close to the wire.

May they walk with those burnt bodies, change their bands,

hold their weeping hands, see their crying lands,

Hear babies choke, on poisonous smoke, mothers broke,

See Dad on fallen knees, lost hope, in mourning cloak.

You light a fire, stand back, admire,

Run away become a liar.

You light fire, make lives expire, till no breath do they require

You light a fire, to fuel desire, you must expire…

This dry land cries ‘Less heat!’, please take the mistreat off repeat

But they don’t care, climate change, a dare…

Politicians I put you there, in the flare and see how you fair,

On the Sunshine Coast, in the roast, you the core host,

You be there, not my family, friends, the unwilling,

Instead of sitting back, down here chilling, killing, drilling,

Not willing… to change for climate change.

Fires they are a burning, returning, undiscerning,

Mother Nature yearning, for the learning and respect.
